Travel to Napier the relaxed way in the Capital Connection (CC) carriages.
Feilding and District Steam Rail Society are taking the CC hauled by a KiwiRail Diesel to Napier on Sunday 16 March 2025.
We depart Palmerston North and travel through the striking Manawatu Gorge to the Tararua District, continuing on to Dannivirke. We will then cross the Takapau plains to Waipukarau, Heretaunga plains to Hastings then up the coast to Napier. Arriving at the Napier Senior Citizens Assoc, Monroe st.
There is the additional opportunity to choose one of the two sightseeing tours on the Art Deco buses below.
Tour 1 You could choose to accept the “Mission” for a group wine and dine, complete with seating in your own part of the carriage.
Tour 2 Forget the New Year’s resolution and attend the Silky Oak chocolate/Art deco tour
Or
You will have time to go casually into Napier to enjoy one of the many cafes, shops or beach walk. The “Aquarium of New Zealand” is worth a visit

Enjoy a selection of our delicious chocolates and learn all about the chocolate making process from one of our Silky Oak team. View the chocolate factory in action through the viewing window
Our train will be licensed, allowing you a glass of wine or beer on your journey. No BYO alcohol. We also have a small range of food for sale on the train.
The trip will be hauled by a KiwiRail diesel locomotive.
